What to Do Before You Call Your Motorcycle Accident Attorney

Motorcycle accidents occur every day in Virginia and across the United States. Unfortunately, a huge percentage of these accidents incur severe personal injuries. Complications often arise when an injured person attempts to collect damages for their injuries and their recovery. A VA motorcycle accident lawyer at Kamerow Law Firm can protect your rights and ensure you receive the damages you are owed. However, before you call your attorney, there are some important things you can do to help your case, including:

  • Call for emergency help – you must seek the medical care you need immediately. Even if you believe no one, including yourself, is injured, you should call 911. Some injuries may not be readily recognizable, and you may suffer from shock. Police will respond to your call and provide pertinent accident reports and details. Only speak to emergency personnel and the police, and only state the facts.
  • Obtain information – if you are able, you need to obtain contact and insurance information from the other parties involved in the motorcycle accident. Ask for contact information from witnesses.
  • Take photos or ask someone else to take photos – cell phone technology is a great asset in accident and injury claims because most people have a camera on their cell phone. If you are not able to take photos yourself, ask someone to take them for you with your phone. Take pictures of your motorcycle, the surroundings, and any visible injuries.
  • Preserve your clothing if it shows damage – if your clothing is ripped or damaged from your motorcycle accident, you should preserve the clothing for evidence.
